Traditionally within the church, this first Sunday of December begins a season of preparation for God’s people to fully embrace the birth of Jesus Christ.

The anticipation of the coming Messiah had been foretold centuries before, giving hope to the people of God… that salvation would come through Him.

SERMON TEXT

Isaiah 7:14(ESV)

Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

Isaiah 53:5 (ESV)

But he was pierced for our transgressions;
    he was crushed for our iniquities;
upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace,
    and with his wounds we are healed.

SERMON NOTES

    Today, we have that same hope.

      • The signs of God give us hope.
      • What are the signs of God working in your life?
      • God with us is the hope we need.
      • Jesus’ sacrifice gives us hope.

    What is it that you are hoping for this Christmas season?

      • Presents under the tree?
      • Restored relationships?
      • Victory over a stronghold?

    Maybe you’re hoping for a place to belong…

    … to be accepted …

    … to be seen …

    … maybe you are hoping for a family?

    You can find all that… in Jesus.

    This holiday season, may our hearts be filled with the hope that is ours in the birth, life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
