What if I told you that everything you have—your time, your talent, your money, your influence—wasn’t really yours?
Today, we begin a new series called ENTRUSTED—a journey through one of Jesus’ most powerful and challenging parables: the Parable of the Talents.
Watch the full Sunday service and message by Pastor Dennis Jacobson below.
SERMON TEXT
Matthew 25:14 (ESV)
“For it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted to them his property.
Matthew 13:10-13 (ESV)
Then the disciples came and said to him, “Why do you speak to them in parables?” And he answered them, “To you it has been given to know the secrets of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been given. For to the one who has, more will be given, and he will have an abundance, but from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away. This is why I speak to them in parables, because seeing they do not see, and hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand.
SERMON NOTES
Why did Jesus teach in parables?
- Seekers and achievers receive more
- Unbelievers reject and lose more
- Believers receive and are blessed with more
Parables reveal and confront
- They sort hearts
- They sift souls
- To the hungry, they unlock the mysteries of the Kingdom
- To the hard-hearted, they become riddles
This parable reveals the Kingdom to us – and in doing so, it reveals us.
- We are stewards.
- We are servants of a returning King.
- And we have been entrusted with something far more precious than money.
We’ve been entrusted with the mission of the Kingdom itself.
