The Gift of Peace

This morning, we are going to spend some time looking at the Ascension of Jesus. The disciples were bewildered; they were uncertain as to what they were to do next. Jesus is with them, then he’s gone. But Jesus tells them to wait.

SERMON TEXT

2 Thessalonians 3:16 (ESV)

Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times in every way. The Lord be with you all.

Philippians 4:6-7 (ESV)

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

  • The promise of the Holy Spirit
  • The mission- to go and to do

We too can live boldly knowing that Jesus reigns, His Spirit empowers, and His mission continues through us!

It is clear we will face opposition… but we can

• • Rejoice in the Lord
  • Let our gentleness be known to everyone
  • Trust in the Lord- not be anxious
  • Experience the peace of God
