MEETING NEEDS IN OUR COMMUNITY

In Citrus Springs and Surrounding Neighborhoods

We strive to meet the needs of those in Citrus Springs and the surrounding areas. Learn more about the opportunities to serve in or be served by our community ministries below. Then, feel free to reach out to the church office (352) 489-1688 to learn how to get involved.

English as a Second Language (ESL)

English as a Second Language is offered to the community on Tuesdays at 6 PM. Students from Mexico, Ukraine, Thailand, China, Argentina El Savador, Puerto Rico and more come to improve their English speaking skills. There are three levels of instruction. Assistance with formal paperwork is also available.

The ability to communicate better can result in improved relationships, a better understanding of the workplace and community in which we live. Call the church office for more information.

Griefshare

Wednesdays at 6 PM, find help and encouragement after the death of a spouse, child, family member, or friend. This support group is a safe, welcoming place for any who are navigating the stages of grief, no matter when your loss occurred or where you currently are in the journey. Learn more about the GriefShare program here.

Food Pantry & Beyond the Bread

Hosted on the 4th Saturday of every month at 9 AM, our Food Pantry and Beyond the Bread ministries are stocked with nutritious foods (including canned goods, meats, and often bread and fresh vegetables) as well as personal hygiene items and household essentials (such as paper products, laundry essentials, and more). There is no charge; this ministry is available to anyone and everyone who has a need while supplies last.

Important notes:

  • A car line begins at the entrance to the church parking lot along Citrus Springs Blvd. We serve while supplies last; if you are in need, be sure to arrive early.
  • For your first visit, please bring a photo ID to help speed up first-time registration.
  • A member from each separate household must be present in the vehicle to accept multiple sets of supplies.
  • We host Men’s and Women’s breakfasts at the church starting at 8:00 AM. You are welcome to join us inside!
  • Our schedule changes during the holidays: In November and December, we offer supplies on the third Saturday of the month instead (the weekends prior to Thanksgiving and Christmas).

Dementia Support

Taking care of someone suffering with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease is a difficult job. There is a support group available on the first Thursday of every month at 10 a.m. Bernie Collins, a retired nurse, leads the casual group who share the trials and tribulations and have suggestions to help people in this situation.

If you have any questions, any needs, or any interest in serving in these areas, give us a call at (352) 489-1688!
