Taking Life Seriously

There has been much debate and concern about the movement that began in our nation some years ago – The “BLACK LIVES MATTER” movement.

It is a movement and network that advocates for dignity, justice and respect of black lives.

Black Lives Matter brings awareness to a cause, a need…because black lives matter…but they do not matter any more than white lives, blue lives, the lives of the aged, those who are struggling with dementia, or the lives of the unborn.

According to the word of God… All lives Matter!

Jeremiah 1:4-5 (ESV)

Now the word of the Lord came to me, saying, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.”

Psalm 139:13-16 (ESV)

For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them,
the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.

He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?

Because the preborn are people, they must be protected.

• The preborn are prized
• The preborn have a purpose

What are some things we can do?

• Be consistently pro-life
• Balance our prophetic and priestly role as believers
• See babies in the womb as opportunities to love our neighbor
• Offer grace and forgiveness to those who need it
• And pray!
